FAQ
Is Zo like OpenClaw or Hermes?

Zo is actually the original OpenClaw – and much more. We launched in June 2025 and inspired Peter Steinberger. Zo just works out of the box, with a personal agent experience designed to be easy enough for anyone to use. Unlike OpenClaw or Hermes, Zo comes with a beautiful home in the cloud for your agent. No terminal setup. No Mac Mini or VPS required. If you want to, you can run Hermes or OpenClaw inside your Zo, but the Zo agent comes with all the same capabilities and more.

Because Zo is a personal cloud, you can host anything from your Zo, on personal cloud infrastructure you control. Our mission is to enable everyone on earth to harness the limitless potential of cloud computing. With AI by our side, we can rewild the internet, and return it to the people.

Do I need to pay to try Zo? What AI models can I use?

Zo is free to try, forever. On the free plan, you get access to a limited selection of AI models with a daily usage allowance. You can add a payment method to purchase additional credits and access all AI models. You can try most of Zo's features on the free plan, but your computer will go to sleep, and some features may be limited. Learn more about plans on our Pricing page.

Zo comes with the latest AI models for chatting, generating media, and transcribing audio. Zo is a capable agent harness with tons of built-in tools, and easily connects to all the tools you use. You can connect AI subscription providers like Codex to power the Zo agent. And you can bring your own API key to access any LLM provider.

Is my data secure? Will you train AI on my work?

We will never sell your data, allow advertising, or train AI models on your work. Your files and projects in your Zo are hosted in your own personal cloud. Our approach is a departure from SaaS, which stores your data in centralized servers using complex and proprietary architecture that traps your work. Our goal is to create self-hosting experience that's simple enough for anyone – even your mom – to use.
