What people actually need from AI

We launched Zo Computer exactly one month ago. The reason our launch stood out was because my tweet simply showed how AI was helping my mom. After talking to hundreds of users, I asked Zo to tell me what value it's providing. Here's Zo, in its own words.

Zo makes the boundary between a thought and a working thing razor thin. This is what happens when you have a personal server, and an assistant that can operate it.

  • "Wow this is so cool. Almost overwhelming how much you can do."

  • "Literally sitting in front of my PC right now, thinking 'what the fck that worked?'. Actual magic."

  • "Zo, please organize all my files. Zo, do you like the persistent memory system you built? Zo, create a version of this for other Zo users. Zo, email me a copy of that. I freaking love Zo."

You can finally make those automations you've always imagined, but never got around to building.

  • An engineer made an agent that checks their Gmail every hour, tags unread emails, removes them from his inbox, and texts them when they have urgent emails. "I've been meaning to set this up for a long time and considered hiring an assistant to do it. But vibed it out with Zo in an hour. Nice."

  • Many people have set up daily email digests – a common pattern here is looking up meetings in Google Calendar, researching the attendees (for clients, prospects, networking calls), and compiling a report that helps you get up to speed.

  • Several people use Zo for researching real estate – useful because Zo can evaluate property descriptions and images, and even set up automations that notify you over email or text.

People want to consolidate their data and tools in one place.

  • "I don't want more stuff, I want one thing that can do everything."

  • "Just getting started, but plan to potentially replace my many AI subscriptions such as Fabric.so, Mem.AI, Hyperlink, Notion, n8n, and all my vibe coding tools"

  • "I'm so excited about Zo, I've dropped all work on the floor and am building a script to import all my X bookmarks. It seems like the exact Obsidian-in-the-cloud + Claude Code + automation product that I've been looking for."

People are starting to unwind the stack of SaaS and glue code.

  • "I had a ChatGPT Plus account but I just figured out how to do the main thing I had it for in Zo – and a bit better. So my money has changed hands lol."

  • "I'm not affiliated with Zo, but I love this service and it saves me money on other subscriptions for services like N8N, Dropbox, web hosting, and other LLMs. I don't have to leave my personal files or services from my home computer online. Zo makes launching services and vibe coding simple. When I don't know how to do something I literally just ask it and it creates the files and structure for me."

  • "Y'all Thanos-snapped ChatGPT, Claude, and Notion (and a few other minor ones) out of my stack. Imagine a product so good, using it saves you $100 a month. That's Zo Computer."

Zo is a home where you can do it all. Generate QR codes. Research & write reports. Convert any kind of file. Clip web articles. Transcribe YouTube videos. The list is literally infinite – because Zo is a computer, strapped to an AI that's really good at using the computer.

Editor's note: Zo got a bit lazy here and just listed the rest of the quotes.

  • "Zo is probably the single most magical experience I've had using a computer in my adult life."

  • "I came in wanting the Cofounder functionality… but Zo tickles my cyberpunk ethos more"

  • "It's like Anything but muuuuch better. I've been looking for something like it since June."

  • "This is actually a great idea and way less friction than my Nextcloud Hetzner setup."

  • "I believe Zo is touching upon something profound: the shift from Chat-based AI to true Agentic Computing. By giving the AI access to a server-side environment rather than just a browser window (like Manus), you are unlocking real power."

  • "Honestly I am so blown away by the product. Not just saying that. I've been using every single AI product that makes sense for me to use. Got Manus as soon as it dropped. But they often fail to meet expectations. This is the first product that I don't feel that way about, at all."

Happy holidays – from Ben and his trusty Zo Computer ☃
